Mike Jacobs is a Republican member of the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 80, which makes up portions of northern DeKalb County.
Jacobs is an attorney by profession. He earned his law degree (J.D.) from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2003 and his bachelor's degree (B.A.) from Georgetown University in 1997.
Jacobs was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2004 as a Democrat. On June 19, 2007, he switched to the Republican Party.[1] He was re-elected in 2008 and 2010 with 67% and 66% of the vote, respectively.
Jacobs is the Chairman of the MARTA Oversight Committee (MARTOC), a joint legislative committee charged with reviewing the budget and fiscal affairs of Atlanta's transit system. He is the Vice Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and chairs one of its two subcommittees. He also serves on the Transportation, Insurance, and Budget and Fiscal Affairs Oversight Committees.
